The Tunnel and Reservoir Plan, known to all of us as the Deep Tunnel Project, is one of the biggest civil engineering projects ever undertaken. On Wednesday, October 10th we will be touring the mainstream pumping station. The tours will give visitors a complete overview of the TARP system and how it functions to improve local water quality and mitigate flooding throughout Cook County. We start with viewing interactive displays and videos about the construction, followed by a tour of the pumping station. We finish with a bus ride to the McCook Reservoir itself where we will get a guided tour. Lunch will follow the tour at JC's Ristorante in McCook.
Cost: The cost of the tour is $40, with a complimentary lunch afterward.
Students may attend the tour only at no cost. The first three students signing up for the tour will have a free lunch included with the tour. Contact us at MHMSChicagoland@gmail.com to make arrangements.
Important: Everyone taking the tour will be required to sign a waiver supplied by the water reclamation district and provide a copy of a photo ID one week in advance of the tour.
To Register: Capacity is limited to 30 participants, so to secure your spot, register for the tour by clicking the Register button below.
All proceeds from this event go towards our MHMS Chicagoland College Scholarship fund.
